Gateway was planted in May 1997 and led for 10 years by Anthony & Teresa Loring. Much of what you see today is the result of the excellent foundations they laid over that time. Originally Welsh, they came from Australia to plant this church and have now moved back “down under”.

In June 2008, Nigel & Melita Day-Lewis, originally from South Africa, handed over the church they had planted in London nearly 13 years before and moved up to Liverpool to take over the reins here.

In January 2015, Russ & Bibi Kain, originally from South Africa, took the reigns at Gateway Church.

The Church began life in a home in Childwall, moved first to a Scout hall in Halewood, then to a community centre in Belle Vale and, since 2007, have been based in their current venue in Hunts Cross.
